The SMART approach is a tool to developing a measurable goal. It establishes a timetable to reach the goal and specifically identifies intent. Importantly, it also asks you to consider how realistic achieving the goal will be.
Specific – The goal is clear, precise and well-defined.
Measurable – There must be a way to confirm that the goal has been accomplished. In this case, you will have an output whose contents can be compared against the criteria you set up.
Achievable – The goal is something that you can act upon.
Realistic – The goal is realistic for you. It fits you as a trader and what you want to achieve with trading.
Time-bound – The goal will be accomplished or completed in a specific time.
