European markets did not end with a single trend, with different sectors of activity also experiencing varied behavior. The technology sector was among the best performers, with ASML rising 3.32%, after having received an improvement in its recommendation following the presentation of results higher than expected. UK-listed mining companies such as Billiton and Rio Tinto closed lower despite encouraging data on the Chinese economy. Meanwhile, the price of oil did not fluctuate significantly on the day OPEC raised its forecasts for oil producers in non-member countries in 2018.
Wall Street traded lower, retreating from gains made yesterday and driving the three indexes to renewed historic highs. The focus was on Morgan Stanley’s results, as well as published economic indicators. After closing, it will be American Express and IBM to present their accounts.
